Weekly Shopping 4/27

Well, this week has been a roller coaster for us, and Sassy's milk allergy. We had a food challenge and you can read the details HERE.

They opened up a Pathmark in our area. I have checked them out. They claim they are cheaper than Giant and Wegman's however, they are not on all products. So I ran in and got a couple of items that were on sale and then headed to Giant for the rest. Check out my totals and total saved. I really did well this week.

I saved with coupons and sale items a total of $51.83! Wow does that make me feel good

Total out of pocket is 112.27! I had a budget this week of $100 so I went a little over that, I know exactly were I spent it though, on the chicken and manager's specials meat. However, all that food is enough to feed us for 11 meals, so I should be good again for a couple of weeks.

Check out how Gayle and the others did this week at the Grocery Cart Challenge

Last minute addition
I just got off the phone with Sassy's allergist and we need to pull her off of Milk for the rest of the week. (The saga continues). So I am going to have to make a run out to the store tonight and pick up some soy milk and soy cheese to get us through till the weekend. So that adds about another $10 to my total above.

  1. Found you @ GCC- we shop at Martins (a Giant chain) and love it! Alot of people tell me they think they are more expensive, but I've checked prices w/ other stores & they are not! I love their natures promise managers meat specials - they have some every time I shop!

Grocery Shopping

So I have been reading the Grocery Cart Challenge for several weeks now and I have been thinking if she can feed a family of 6 on $60 a week, then I can do it for 3 on $30. Then I started really thinking about it... With DD's milk allergy, I purchase high end vegan subsitutes for her like vegan cheese, sour cream, soy milk, etc. These things are expensive, but I don't want her to miss out on things like having tacos, and lasagna. So we will have to sacrfice in other areas to make up for that. So I have set our weekly grand total for $40, if I can get it close to $30 even better. But $40, is our max. So here is our weekly trip. Sorry I don't have a picture to post with this one. Giant 8 o'clock coffee $2.25 (on sale) Fels Napa Soap $0.99 Washing Soda $2.37 Giant brand whole wheat hamburger rolls $2.49 Giant ...

Meal Plan Monday - 3/16/09

There is a switcharue this week. Erin over at $5 dinners is hosting this week. You can check out everyone else's great meal plans and see what is cooking around town. So last week was a crazy one for us. Daddy and I both got a stomach flu and then at the end of the week and this whole weekend, we took on a DIY project of redoing our flooring in our foyer. I will post pics later this week. So there are alot of repeats on the menu this week do to the craziness of last week. Oh and I don't have anything listed for what I am packing for Sassy's lunches because school hasn't put up the new menu yet for the week. Monday: Meatloaf, Mixed Veggies, Salad Tuesday: Corned Beef & Cabbage, carrots, potatoes & salad Wednesday: French Toast & Blueberries Thursday: Chicken/ Beef Fajitas on tortillas with peppers, onions, sour cream, cheese Friday: Oven-Fried Chicken Tenders & Homemade Fries Saturday: Buffet of Leftovers Sunday: BBQ Pork Sandwiches on WW Rolls with Salad

Meal Plan Monday

As you may have noticed you didn't hear much out of me this week... Well, every single person in this house came down with some verison of a nasty respiratory cold. Sassy ended up with a sinus infection that started pushing out her eyes...ewwww. Daddy still has a cough and is running fevers for the last week (I am sending him to the Dr's tomorrow to be checked out.) Thankful I didn't get hit that bad and was only down for 2 days. But as all of you moms know 2 days is like 2 weeks in other people's world. So I have spent most of my waking time, catching up, scrubbing the house down and washing everything that could be washed just to rid ourselves of these germs. Thankfully here on the East coast it was relatively warm today so I was able to air out the house as well. Needless to say we didn't have a 2nd birthday party for Sassy this past weekend, so I have rescheduled it for next weekend and we will hope everyone is better by then. This is my hope/goal for a meal pla...
